{And when My servants ask you, (O Muhammad), concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me (by obedience) and believe in Me that they may be (rightly) guided.}

Imaam ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullah] said in his book Al-Fawa'id:
'...the true mu'awwaq [disabled] is the one who is mu'awwaq [disabled] from the obedience of Allah.'
In Ramadhaan [1430AH/2009] a disabled Turkish brother [more than 60 years of age] stood in prayer all night in the Prophet’s [saws] Masjid, with only one leg to support himself. A brother recorded a short clip of this extraordinary scene.
When watching this short video we should remember how the Prophet [saws] would stand all night until his feet became swollen and cracked. A'ishah said: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) would stand at night until his feet became cracked. I said to him: 'Why do you do this oh Messenger of Allah, while all of your sins past and future have been forgiven?' He said: 'Shouldn't I be a thankful slave?'" [Agreed upon]
Indeed, the night prayer is the diligence of the righteous, the transaction of the believers, and the action of the victorious. At night the believers are alone with their Lord - they turn towards their Creator complaining about their situations and asking of His bounties. They are standing in front of their Lord, devoted to the confidential talk with their Shaper, gently breathing the fragrances, taking from the lights of the good deeds, and seeking and begging for the greatest of gifts.
In truth, it is just as the Prophet [saws] said: ”…the coolness of my eyes is in prayer.” (Ahmad and An-Nasa 'i)
