THE IDEAL MUSLIMAH

The term "Sufi" actually appeared relatively late (in Kufa, Iraq, during the Abbasid period in the 9th century AD). It may be derived from the Arabic word (suf), meaning a coarse woolen garment, such as that worn by the monks and eventually adopted by some ascetic and mystic Muslims. Many Sufis have introduced many innovations into Islam in the name of Tasawwuf and have justified such practises by fabricated statements and unsound arguments.
